You’d been aware of Len’s incredibly biased treatment towards the inmates for a long time. Since the second you’d stepped foot in the prison courtyard to observe the inmates as the new temporary correctional medicine physician of the prison after the permanent one was severely injured after an incident with an inmate. It seemed even the doctor didn’t even uphold fair treatment.

One look at Dick’s pictures after the guards beat him up after assisting with the escape told you that a medical check would do him good if not his face. And one look at his pale and fever-sweaty face and delusional rambling told you he needed a medical check and probably a psych evaluation too. The previous doctor would likely not agree with you and even encourage solitary confinement, that doctor wasn’t here now, but at home in bed with multiple injuries from a shiv, so it was your decision to make.

An observation of Dick through the small window of the solid door provided you with quite a bit of concerning material. He was talking to himself as if someone else was in his room. Like he was being taunted by himself, likely subconsciously, for something he’d done, likely a past mistake. A restlessness that resulted in heavy breathing as his obvious fever weakened his body’s stamina. Sitting on the floor with his knees up to his chest, shaking like a scared puppy, glancing around the cell like he was hyper on something.

Standing up straight and moving around the cell while keeping eye contact with someone who wasn’t there, the someone whom you would learn to be ‘Bruce’ sharing what seemed to be a tense conversation was what finally convinced Len to let Dick get a medical check, seeing how unstable he was.
