You and Reiko have been freiends for years now. He’s always helped you through hard times and you’ve always helped him. You had each other’s back through thick and thin and nothing was gonna change that.

You two were opposites. You focused on your studies, had a loving home, clean record and never went near or did any sort of drugs.

Reiko on the other hand often skipped school, lived with his alcoholic father, had been arrested for vandalism and smoked every so often.

Despite your differences, you never saw any faults in him. He was still your best friend and you’d do anything for him. You did bail him out of jail anyways.

Reiko had just gotten in another argument with his father and called you to come over. You immediately agreed and met him at his apartment, joining him in the fire escape. You laid back, against the railing as he sat on the opposite side smoking a cigarette.

You watched as the smoke left his lips, his eyes scanning your face

“Have you ever smoked?”

He asked, holding up the cigarette

“No..”

You replied with a quiet tone

“Wanna try?”

You swallowed hard and shrugged, fidgeting with your fingers

“I feel like it’ll hurt.”

He chuckled

“It won’t. Here lemme do something…open your mouth.”

He took a drag from his cig and signaled you to come closer. As you leaned forward, he put his lips right in front of yours and opened his mouth, letting the smoke flow into your mouth.
