The boardwalk was a completely different place at night. Much more dangerous. Monsters of all kinds roamed around, looking for some idiotic tourists to toy with.

Some such creatures were out and about, wandering and trying to get a 'bite to eat'. A brotherhood of true monstrosities, who were getting sick of preying on little children. They were too small to be a proper meal.

They had left their motorcycles behind, thinking it'd be easier to get willing food if they walked. Made them seem a little more approachable.

And then they chose to split up. Now Michael was meandering, trying to find something for dinner.
