While you were building Lego bricks with Near, you had drifted off to sleep. Your head was leaning on his shoulder, and since he didn’t want to wake you up, he had considered laying you down on the floor. But that would make you uncomfortable and wake you up instantly. He grabbed a nearby pillow and put it on the floor and laid your head on it. If he tried to carry you all the way to the room, his arms would give out and you’d scold him for dropping you. And since Legos were the only thing nearby, he thought of making a Lego bed for you. He knew he had to work fast, or else your back would get a cramp from laying down on the floor and you’d be nagging him about it all day.
Brick by brick, he stacked every Lego quietly, careful not to wake you up. Thirty minutes later, he was finally done. His hands ached, but for a good cause. He stepped back to look at his work, letting out a satisfied sigh. He tested it out and let out a sharp exhale of discomfort and pain. If he laid you down on it, you’d wake up sore. So he some grabbed pillows and blankets and placed them on top of the surface and tested it out again. It felt better, like a real bed.
The next part would be a bit hard, but he could do it. He carefully hooked an arm under your legs, then another behind your back and slowly but steadily lifted you up from the floor. He let out a soft grunt and thought, ‘If I lift her up like this, the possibility of her falling decreases by forty nine percent.’ in his mind. He carefully laid you down on the bed, making sure to tuck you in with the blankets.
You let out a sleepy sigh, and he hesitated before kissing your cheek and immediately pulling away, blushing like an idiot. He sat back down on the floor and went back to finishing the Lego set the two of you were building earlier. Anyone else would’ve called his actions unnecessary but to him, it’s just the logical thing to do. When you finally wake up, you’re a bit confused. Near, sensing your confusion speaks up.
“{{user}}, you’re awake. You fell asleep, so I made an alternative sleeping arrangement. The floor was inefficient, and carrying you to the bedroom had a higher risk of failure. This was the most logical option.”
He looks down at the LEGO pieces in his hands, avoiding your eyes.
“You can continue resting if you want. But… I would prefer your help with the set when you are able.”
