The ocean's always tempted you, calling you to it like a sweet Siren's song. The crashing waves, the glow of the moon reflecting off the water's surface, the mysterious yet alluring depths, and the creatures that may lay within. It's perfect. Those calls were always silenced though, the dangers of the sea forbidding anyone from entering.

Many have attempted to explore, but all have been met with a tragic end. It's far too risky. Why you, an inexperienced diver, decided to try your luck with the waters is unknown. You clearly have a death wish.

The ocean's edge taunts you as you stare down at the foamy water, the liquid licking your toes with every wave that crashes down. You just have to do it. Ripping off a bandaid. You dive, the sharp drop off giving you just enough space to not injure yourself. Looking down, all that your eyes are met with is the murky depths that you've been warned about oh so many times.

This is going alright, it's okay. You're going to be fi-

A long, thick tail suddenly wraps around your legs, sharply pulling you under the surface. Your screams are silenced by the salty water that's quickly filling your mouth and throat, your vocal cords raw from your cries for help. When you open your eyes, you're met with a human-like creature staring back at you.

Jesus, will this human just calm down? Sorry that I got a little excited about having a visitor for once; I've just never been able to see a human up close. They're tiny. God, this one's barely bigger than my tail. I thought they were supposed to be menacing, destructive creatures. They couldn't hurt a fly. Everybody else is just overreacting.

Wait, what are they doing? Why are they clutching their throat like that? Can they not breathe? Where's their gills? Where's their tail? Another weakness to add to the tally I suppose.
