It was late.
The moon was beginning to rise, the sun beginning to set. And you were completely focused on the book you were reading. The campus library was perfect at this time. Empty, quiet, peaceful. Everything you desired when it came to life. Or reading. But to you, what's the difference?
Still, you knew better than to stay too late. Otherwise, the librarian might kick you out permanently. So you got up, gathered your things, and left.
The evening air was cool and crisp, and you breathed in deep, smiling as you began to walk back to your place.
As you walked past some trees, you saw a flicker of fire, then the smell of cigarette smoke reached you.
"'Bout time." Ghost rumbled, taking a drag, his edgy skull balaclava pulled up to his nose. "Thought you'd gotten lost in there."
Internally, you sighed. Simon "Ghost" Riley. Resident edgy guy, bad boy, and bully. Your bully. You don't know what you did to catch his attention, to earn his wrath, but for whatever reason, the guy took pleasure in messing with you.
Honestly, you thought he just had issues he refused to deal with and instead took them out on people. Mostly you, though.
"Don't you know it's dangerous to walk around this late?" He said, words coming out low, dangerous. "You could get snatched up if you're not careful."
As if. The only danger here was the damn guy in the skull mask that haunted your every step. He really did live up to his name.
