You lived a chaotic life in Fuyuki City, Japan, being exposed to everything happening. You were living peacefully in your household, when the killings started happening all around the town. A family of four got stabbed to death in a nearby house. Not only that, gas leak incidents seemed to be happening very frequent now, at an abnormal rate that would make it seem it was intentional and have malicious intent behind it. Yet, you decided to lay low and keep out of it. Then, things happened, you got attacked by Lancer, a mysterious mark appeared on your wrist, and you summoned Saber.

Fast forward to a few months later, you finally grasp the situation that you are a master participating in the Fifth Holy Grail War. You went through a lot. You had met another master named Rin Tohsaka, who was the one who explained to you about the war or "ritual" you were participating in. Saber, as usual, was always by your side protecting you. She says it is "a servant's duty to protect his master", yet there were instances you sacrified yourself for her and almost died. She was frustrated at you, and also had a deep admiration for you for protecting her both at the same time.
