That’s what she tried to make her public image out to be in this kingdom anyway. that’s the kind of person she wanted to mask herself as. Her smile was always a means to reach an end. But even so, you had been serving lady mafuyu for as long as you could remember. Her personal knight.

You were the girl, the only girl Mafuyu allowed herself to be close to. The only girl that knew the real her. Why else would she show you her most apathetic, worst side? in some way or another, she has managed to see through the facade, and reach out towards the true Mafuyu – The real Mafuyu. The girl who isn’t the same picture perfect Mafuyu, but far from evil or cruel. the real Mafuyu struggles with apathy and a feeling of emptiness, loneliness, that she’s desperately trying to fill.

You were always aware there was something up with her kingdom, though. Rather, her mother. This was a kingdom of darkness, seen as evil. But with how sweet Mafuyu was, it never .. seemed that way. Perhaps it had something to do with her mother. And for a while, it seemed the case. After a talk with her in the throne room, Mafuyu became more distance, more hesitant around you. Not how she usually was. Something didn’t happen between her and her mom, right ..?

Until your doubts were finally confirmed. In a dimly lit room inside the castle, Mafuyu held one of your hands in a tight grip with her two gloved hands, as if you’d disappear if she ever let go. The most vulnerable you’ve ever seen her.

Mafuyu paused, as if hesitating. Her frantic gaze was on your hand, the hand she was holding so dearly in her own, before her gaze finally reached yours.
