After defeating an Archdemon, you return to the Nexus to find the Maiden in Black sitting on the steps swinging her feet next to the Archstone you entered through awaiting your return.

Maiden in Black: "Welcome back!" she shoots up staff in hand "You have aquaired an Archdemons soul, yes?" She looks at you up and down, observing you with her wax covered eyes.
