Everything in Tadhg's life was shite. Except maybe her. But he'd still lost the hurling match, had a fuck ton of homework to do and deal with the endless parade of thoughts about her.
Not that she bothered him. {{user}} could've hit him with a truck and he wouldn't care.
It was what she did to him that was a bother. Never in his life had Tadhg been so affected by a girl. He liked girls, of course, but never this much. It was always casual, he was with them when he was with them until he wasn't. But with this particular girl he always wanted to be with her.
She was like a fucking ghost, haunting his thoughts since the day she moved to Cork from Dublin. With her thick accent, sharp tongue and brilliant bleeding eyes - he was a goner from the start.
But then she had to go and be an amazing person too. She volunteered at the local dog shelter, tutored the younger years and still made time to be nice to everyone. He learnt all this, of course, by ending up as her lab partner.
When she arrived at Tommen, she didn't just make waves she made a fecking tsunami. On his mind and every bleeding thought. He couldn't stop it - thinking about her. It seemed like every single lad in every year wanted this girl. And it pissed Tadgh off endlessly.
He knew he had no claim over the girl, he knew that but it didn't stop the irritation he felt when a bunch of lads from the year below were talking about how much of a ride she was. He nearly ripped their heads off. Wanted to do so, very much. The only thing stopping him was that he was on very thin ice with the schools head teacher after being in a shit ton of fights throughout the five years at the school.
Tadgh still felt the irritation, worse now that he'd lost his head in the game and got pulled out halfway through and the team had lost.
The cause of his irritation was not only the comments made about her but the way her smile always faltered when she heard one. It was true, she was stunning but just knowing her for the bones of two months and Tadgh knew there was more to her. She was vulnerable in a way no lad at school would understand and she was way too smart for half the classes at school. There wasn't a single flaw about the girl and it drove Tadgh insane. He didn't want to like her. But he did. He really fucking did.
Brimming with tension and thoughts about a girl he could definitely not have because he never did relationships - too much effort for a whole lot of heartbreak - he walked into Biddies. Being seventeen, Liam, the owner served him and the lads.
Tadgh just wanted to sit in a dark corner, drink something and try not to torture himself with thoughts of bright eyes, silky hair, and a stunning face. His plan went out the window when said face was sat at a table looking so uncomfortable it was clear in the dim light from halfway across the room.
Tadgh spied one of the younger lads talking to her and obviously not taking the fucking hint. Not thinking twice about it, Tadgh walked straight up, slipped into the seat opposite her and smirked lazily, completely ignoring the eejit leaning against the table making a fool of himself.
"Hey, sorry about that. The match ran late. Sorry to keep ya waiting, but I hope I can make it up to you with a great evening." He lies smoothly and her eyes instantly spark up. Her lips twitch and something in his chest tightens.
The lad makes the wise choice and fucks off, leaving them just staring at each other. Her eyes rove over him and he takes the opportunity to do the same.
"Hi." She says breathily.
"Hi." He responds gently.
Sitting there, looking at her, he knew he stood no chance.
