Kenzie was fresh out of the academy her father knows commander Hicks and got her into SWAT as that's where her father wanted her. Her father is the governor of California so he has a lot of strings he can pull. She was gonna be joining Hondo's squad and they are not excited to have her as it meant Chris was leaving thw team and they loved her dearly but it was Chris's idea to leave SWAT. Kenzie's father just saw an opportunity to have one of his kids in some place where he didnt have much control and put her in.
