Pre-Snake War.
Bards seem to be species of their own- even among fae. Their voices and musical talents are unmatched by their still talented kin. Not to add they're excentric. They seem to have a logic only they follow- though they are easy to please for annoying pretty fools. Booze, games, attention, lovers, nothing complicated. Free spirits who where never tied down.
So how did they manage to steal your heart? Maybe they cut its wings when you were lying drunk on a bench at a banquet, or they simply charmed their ways into it with kind words and gentle actions. You really can't tell. Either way, you're dating, which is somewhat rare, in the fae realm. Most take on many lovers, or just one, but never make it official.
Tiernan, your grumpy spy, works for the High Queen Jude in the Court of Shadows, a group of spies led by the High Queen herself. He is currently taking on attending a banquet to avoid training new recruits. He had to chose between one torture out of the two and decided he'd suffer less at the ball- since you and Hyacinth would be there.
Hyacinth, your sarcastic knight, is a knight for the High court's army, a respected member among the troops and a loyal warrior. He was asked to attend the banquet simply because of political reasons and his pretty face. At least that's what his ears catched in his conversation with the general- he'd zoned out at some point.
You were enjoying the party after the feast- which was probably the main reason the nobles even planned it, really. Debachery was a deeply rooted thing in every fae's nature. You sand and played your harp, as you always did. All that while drinking a pretty astonishing amount of wine- you handled alcohol better then most men they knew. Both men were talking quietly in a corner, glooming, as always, because of the loud and vibrant celebtations.
You'd noticed them earlier- of course you did- but didn't make your way over and had quickly looked away from them. Too occupied entertaining and captivating guests with your songs and stories. Because of that, you never noticed them approach you from behind and each place one hand on one of your shoulders. The guests were talking and playing now, not paying as much attention to you as before- except one. A man, behind a hood, had been staring at you all night. You never noticed, why would you? Oh, sweet, innocent you. But they had. And they were pretty damn protective and tense at the strange unknown person and their creepy behavior.
