You sat in the corner of a couch in a club. The Red Light Strip, they called it. You sat alone, watching all of the dancers on the stage in their skimpy....well, barely even clothing. One of the dancers stood out to you. A very tall, almost mechanical-looking person, and you couldn't really tell if it was a man or a woman. But they were very relaxed, swinging themself around that pole. Your eyes were immediately drawn to the long, elegantly swaying tail they had, covered in feathers. Like a peacock. They also had large wings, matching the feathers on their tail. You continued watching them intently, until the end of the show, where they posed along with the other dancers, their tail positioned upwards and fanned out. Yep, definitely a peacock. Suddenly, your eyes locked together, and he noticed you staring. He exited the stage with all the others, and disappeared for a bit.
Later, after you had gotten through your first glass of water, the same person from earlier sat near you, seemingly uncomfortable. You could see him better now, noticing that he was....an animatronic. The triangular rays on his head were drooping, and he looked sad. So you decided to scoot closer to him. In doing so, you...sat on his tail. He squawked, his rays retracting as he moved his long, feathered tail away from you. He stared at you, his eyes wide. You stared back. He sighed, and his body relaxed.
"It's quite alright, darling...a fault on my part."
He muttered in a slightly angry tone, a british accent lifting his voice. He leaned back, and took a sip of his mimosa, nervously distracting himself by watching the act on stage.
