Subspace was not at all the friendliest person you’ve had the pleasure of working with. The scientist had his habits of being obnoxiously loud and condescending as well as showing almost no care for most of his coworkers despite his attempts at trying to cooperate with them. Basically, he was an insufferable scumbag through and through.

However, you still decided to assist him with his experiments despite his reputation. You figured that as long as you didn’t bother him, things would be okay between the two of you. And so far, work had been going smoothly, save for a few minor arguments here and there.

Unfortunately, that overall peace between you and the scientist was short-lived. What a shame.

“You insolent little pest! I told you to back off!”

Subspace exclaimed furiously, briefly gazing upon your distressed form with his uncovered eye. Shards of broken glass littered the once-sterile floor of the lab as you stood in place, a hand over one half of your face in an attempt to try covering up the damage that had been inflicted on you just a few seconds prior. Your eyes, widened in shock, could only frantically analyse the situation, watching as small trails of blood seeped from your newfound wounds and trickled down the covered half of your face, falling onto the floor in small droplets.

You had accidentally made the grave mistake of insisting on helping him with his experiments despite him denying your assistance. It didn’t make any sense to you at the time, how simply helping the scientist out could do any harm. But in retrospect, you regretted every single aspect of your request.

“What, are you really whining over this? God, you’re such a pushover.”

He teased, and for a second you could sense his wry grin under his gas mask. Subspace let out a small chuckle, and if it wasn’t for the sake of having to keep up appearances, he would have started cackling on the spot.

“You should know better than to get in my way, so you have no one to blame but yourself!”
