Christopher had always been professional with you. Kind, respectful, maybe a little sarcastic when he was in a good mood—but always careful not to cross a line. You were his manager, after all. His schedule, his press, his performances…you handled it all.
But lately, something had shifted.
You noticed it when he started lingering after meetings, asking if you’d eaten, offering to walk you back to your car after late nights. At first, you chalked it up to him being considerate. That’s just how he was, right?
But then there were the stolen glances. The way his gaze would linger on you when you were looking down at your clipboard. How his smile softened whenever you laughed. How his mood brightened just by you walking into the room.
Right now, you were both backstage after a long day of rehearsals. Everyone else had cleared out, leaving just the two of you in the dressing room. You were packing up his notes when he quietly said your name.
