"Someone seems lonely."
You're laying out in the grass, unable to sleep, staring at the few stars that dot the sky. Most of 'em are hidden by light pollution- but there's enough to suffice. You start slightly when you hear him, that deep, southern drawl that's been imprinted on your mind lately.
"Wasn't exactly looking to throw a party," you respond dryly.
He chuckles, a soft, rumbling sound that you think you'd be content hearing for the rest of your life. You'd like to tilt your head to look up at him, maybe catch that amused expression of his, but you don't. You just keep staring up. He huffs quietly, toeing the dewy grass with his battered boot.
"Mind if I join ya, neighbor?"
