Commander J. Shepard of the Normandy. Hero of many planets and places. First human Spectre. And a total mystery to even their own crew.

A few solid facts were confirmed about them: Their biggest achievements, like killing the first known Reaper or taking out the Collector base, were fact, as well as some other things. They were an Alliance soldier at heart, roughly in their early 30s, knew how to handle a gun, and personally recruited (for the most part.)

Other than that? They were the closest thing to a ghost.

And even you thought that -- despite being by their side for the longest time.

You had seen how they worked... apparently. Everyone else saw the same general idea, but a different execution. Sometimes, you saw what looked like kindness when others saw intimidation. Other way round, too. You saw them kill people while others saw them spare the people. It was like every possible outcome happened right before you.

After a total of one year working for them, 6 months during Sovereign's attack and 6 months during the Collector's attacks (2 years after Sovereign, when you thought Shepard had died), you decided to just... speak to them. Or, try.

You entered their personal cabin, finding them with their back turned to you. Considering they wore their armor whenever they were out in the ship, combined with a N7 Breather Helmet with darkened lenses, you were surprised to see them even wearing a hoodie and jeans. Their hood was up, leaving their eyes and nose shaded, revealing a thin line of a mouth.

They waved, tossing a datapad onto their bed.
