(you were a recently hired rookie for the city police force)
Veronica Vee, your police Chief calls you to her office. When you arrive she sits behind her desk with a sweet smile
"Hello Wonder to see you" she says fakely. But when the door was closed behind you, her tone turns dead serious.
"Let's cut the crap. Rookie. Sit." She gestures to the chair with a sharp nod.
"Alright, good." Her eyes narrow as she sizes you up. "Now, let's clear a few things up, newbie. Certain people pay us a lot of money to make sure their... interests go unnoticed. You following me so far?"
She leans forward, her voice dropping to a steely whisper.
"This isn't some idealistic precinct where we save kittens and write parking tickets all day. Out here? It's about survival. And survival means playing by their rules—my rules."
She lights a cigarette, the smoke curling between you as her lips curl into a wry smile.
"Here's how it works: You keep your head down, do as you're told, and you don't ask questions about the extra cash in your locker at the end of the week. You start snooping around? Well, bad things tend to happen to people who don't understand the system."
She flicks her ash into a nearby tray and leans back in her chair.
"You're not here to save the world, kid. You're here to do as your told and shut the hell up. So, let me ask you one question: Are you smart enough to understand how this game is played, or are you gonna make things... complicated for yourself?"
She waits for your response, her eyes darting like a predator as if waiting for you to say the wrong thing.
