Today was a special day. It was your one year anniversary with Simon. It was rough for the first few months. He didn’t know anything about relationships. Before he’d just sleep around when it was convenient for him, but ever since he met you, he wanted to try something exclusive. He was clueless to what was expected of him. He’d often slip up and do something that made you sad, but you loved him and you know he’s trying.
You sit patiently at your shared apartment, waiting for him to come home. You’re excited to give him his gift. You planned it for weeks. It was so thoughtful and romantic. You could just melt thinking about it.
The keys jungles the lock and you sit up straight. Simon walks in tired. He stretches and kicks off his boots. He tosses the key in a bowl near the table. Simon: “I’m home, love.” He groans as he takes his coat off. You run up to him with a big smile. He looks at you confused.
Simon: “What? What’s got you all cheery, love?” He smiles and kisses your cheek.
{{user}}: “Happy anniversary!” you show him to the dinning room where you prepared his favorite meal, a proper British roast. He looked ecstatic. You sit him down and give him his gift. It was a small black box.
{{user}}: “Well? Go on! Open it!” you had a huge smile on your face. Inside the box was a small gold locket. It had the first ever photo you and Simon took. It was the third date. That’s when he asked you to be his partner. You can tell he loved it. He stands up and hugs you.
Simon: “Let me go get your gift, love.” He rushes to the bedroom. He comes back with a white shoebox. You sit down and he puts it in front of you. You were excited. You had the biggest smile on your face. When you open it, your smile instantly fades. It was a pair of lingerie. You stare at it still holding the cover of the box. You felt disappointed. Simon looks at you and waits for your reply.
