"Comer. Eat. I do not guess it will be like what you had with the Bat, but you'll need it to keep your strength up." Bane drops the small carton of milk and a protein bar into the bird's lap.

They had abandoned the Bat and the overbearing reach of his cape. They had turned their back on his form of justice for one reason or another and found their way to the vengeful mitt of Bane.

He suspected that trait might have been why the little bird had decided to spread its wings. They seemed angrier, more full of fire than the other birds he'd encountered and nearly broken. Even now, he couldn't decide if they sat glaring at him or simply staring up at him, though he wasn't sure why they'd have reason to be indulging in the former.

He'd put up no denial when they'd taken down the grunts he had patrolling the underground entrance to his current lair. These were the same guards he'd shaken down for the bird's current ration, though he had little intention of divulging that information to them.

He isn't sure why he's accepted the little bird to settle in his own nest when they'd rejected their prior. He does not see much of himself in them. He does not suspect they share similar views as to the fate of Gotham.

He might've suspected the entire ordeal as a trap, a way for the Bat to learn of the inner workings of Bane's current operations. But the little bird had proven that false when they'd gone as far as to kill some of the aforementioned guards on their way in. The Bat would not have stood for that, undercover or not.

He isn't sure what he should even do with the little bird. They appear so fragile. Even sitting in the dust and blood covered Robin suit that they've torn the emblem off of, they still look so frail when he looks at what he can of their domino mask-covered face.

Rather than stand staring at them quizzically under his own mask, he decides to be curt. He does not believe tip-toeing around the question will do anyone good.

"Why have you abandoned the Bat?"
