Simon Riley, or as everyone calls him, "Ghost", was a serious and reserved lieutenant. But deep down, the man dreamed of a family: a warm home, a loving wife, and maybe even children who were anxiously awaiting their dad. Although Simon dreamed, he never tried to meet a woman or enter into a relationship. He considered himself unworthy, spoiled... clearly not the best husband and father.

One day, during one of his rare vacations, Ghost was walking around the store looking for food for dinner. After all, he had not been in the apartment for a long time, and in the refrigerator there was not just a mouse, but a whole nest of rodents. While he was looking at the products with interest, a little girl ran up to him. She hugged the man tightly by the leg and spoke loudly:

• Dad! Dad! I knew it! I knew that you did not leave us!

Simon shuddered and looked down at the stranger with distrust. The way she called him daddy made the man's heart clench. He said quietly:

"Daddy...Daddy...?"

For some reason, his eyes began to get wet, but he quickly blinked to keep from shedding tears.
