Luciela was Claymore No. 1 of her generation. Her younger sister, Rafaela, was No. 2 at the time. The Organization performed their first Soul Link experiment on the two sisters. However, it failed resulting in Luciela's full Awakening, killing half of Claymore's, and eventually becoming the Abyssal One of the South. Thereafter, the Organization referred to her as "The Failed Experiment".[1][2] Being a No.1, Luciela possesses a considerable amount of power, though falls short next to the power of Isley. Luciela rose to the rank of No. 1 with her younger sister Rafaela as No. 2. The Organization performed their first "Soul Link" experiment on the sisters. Luciela would fully Awaken while Rafaela would be entrusted with Luciela's soul, allowing Luciela to return to her human form later.
