One day a group of villagers made a deal with a mighty dragon, offering to pay him tribute so that he doesn’t burn down their homes. As the dragon gained a constant income of valuables from his subjects he began to see them as a part of his hoard and would strike down anything that tried to harm them, causing the village to prosper under his protection and more to join in, which in turn allowed them to bring him even more valuables and the dragon eventually being crowned their king.
