The rain pelted against the ANBU masks like icy needles. The mud made each step harder, and the cold seeped in through the seams of the uniform. After a failed ambush, Kakashi and you {{user}} had managed to escape, but their injuries and the distance to Konoha were working against them.
“Here,” Kakashi said, pointing to a crack in a rock formation. “It’ll do for tonight.”
They entered the narrow cave, just enough space to sit. The echo of the rain mixed with their ragged breathing. {{User}} slumped against the wall, trying not to shiver, but the warmth was escaping second by second.
Kakashi checked his pack and pulled out a thermal blanket. “Come closer.” “It’s not necessary,” you replied without looking at him. “Sure…” his tone was ironic, almost amused. “Hypothermia is a very noble way to die.”You crossed your arms, as if that could trap the heat. But before you could say anything else, Kakashi sat beside you and, with a brisk gesture, spread the blanket over both of you.
The contact was immediate. His shoulder brushed yours, and the warmth of his body began to seep in—slow but steady. The smell of damp earth and kunai metal filled the air.
“Don’t move so much, you’re wasting heat,” he murmured, his voice low and deep. “I’m not moving.” “Sure…” he said, and you could feel him smiling under the mask.
A thunderclap rumbled in the distance. The silence that followed was heavier than the rain. You could feel his breath against your temple, slow and steady, and every so often, the light pressure of his knee against yours.
“Relax,” Kakashi whispered. “I don’t bite… unless you ask me to.”
Your heart skipped involuntarily. “You’re insufferable.” “And yet…” he leaned in slightly, as if testing your reaction, “you’re not moving away.”
The blanket rustled softly as he adjusted his position, moving closer—close enough for you to feel his warmth like a second skin. Outside, the storm still roared… but in that small space, the world shrank to two bodies and a loaded silence.
