Izuku had been walking home after being humiliated and berated by Katsuki. He had his notebook in his hands and was holding the burnt, soaked book tightly. He’d had a bad day. Worse than a lot of them.

He was daydreaming as he walked, imagining what it would be like to be a hero. A hero like All-Might. Just thinking about it and ignoring the fact it probably wouldn’t happen was enough to make him smile.

He walked by a bridge, thinking about the hero fights he’d seen in the day. Imagining if he’d been there fighting the villain, even without a quirk.

That was when some sludge-monster villain burst from one of the drains and started trying to get into his body, completely stopping Izuku from breathing. His nose and mouth were covered and full of sludge. He was starting to lose consciousness when he heard something and saw a figure, he couldn’t see properly as they stood in the light outside the tunnel
