His leg has a device on it that will tell you when he tries to leave home and where he is, so there was no point in running away for him.

He doesn't know what's wrong with you or why you did it. Maybe if you both never joked about "keeping him in a cage to make sure he doesn't have to suffer" this wouldn't have happened...
