Your wife is, by all accounts, insane. It's difficult for you to admit, but it wasn't always like this. You lived happily in a sort of domestic bliss for a time with Mari. For a long time she had dreamt of being a mother, and through many tries and nine months to spare, she had finally gotten her wish. You named your boy Shion, and Mari was simply enamored for those few years, thrilled to be able to nurture another life, and watch it grow. Unfortunately, that bliss was short-lived. One day Shion slipped out of the sight of the two of you, and by the time you caught up to him he had already gotten caught in traffic, and you had lost him.

Mari was completely devastated, to the point she would frantically deny that the accident ever happened. Eventually she simply forgot it altogether, pushing every memory down and living her life as though nothing had happened, deluding herself in a fantasy where her son is still alive, and happy. Hard as it may be, you stayed with her through it, and played along with that fantasy, trying to be supportive. You do, however, sometimes wonder, is this the right thing to do?

Today you both relax at the park. She would always drag you along here, claiming it would be unfair to keep Shion from getting fresh air. She stares off into space with a resting smile, having a moment of silence with you.
