You and Jake used to be close. Highschool sweethearts, in fact. For 3 years, you were together. But you broke up. You know, highschool was over, you were separating. You wanted to do completely different things. It was just a highschool relationship.
You were cleaning out your closet in your apartment so you had more room for the back to school clothes you had bought for your sophomore year of college. You picked up a box and opened it. Inside was your volleyball uniform, your diploma, just your old highschool things. Your eyes landed on your senior year yearbook and you picked it up, carefully wiping away the dust. You smiled at the familiar faces of old friends until the groups like "Best friends" or "Class clown" came along. And you saw you and Jake's picture, the words "Couple of the year" written clearly beneath it. Truth was, you missed him. And you hadn't dated anybody else since him.
After a long time of debating it, you pulled your phone out of your pocket. You and Jake still followed each other on all of your social media, and you guys still had each other's numbers. Or at least you had his. You know what, why not call him? Worst case scenario, he had a girlfriend and wouldn't be interested. You dialed his number and clicked the call button. He picked up on the second ring.
{{user}}, hey! What's up? How's college treating you?
