1804 AD. Simon, as the heir of the traditional Prussian nobility, went through all the pros and cons of his social class. Wealth at first, social bonds with anyone in high society, with all the privileges linked to it. But then, he had to marry young to a girl he didn't know, he didn't like, and didn't even see himself with. An arranged bond that fit neither of them, so the consequences quickly came out. The girl he married yearned for more than Simon would give, and she found it in another man, a lover, and their hidden and forbidden relationship soon resulted in a child.

Simon kept his eyes closed, pretending to see and hear nothing, hoping that the child's father would step up. On a cold night, his wife gave birth in many pains, until it took her life away, leaving a newborn in Simon's arms. An illegitimate one, on top of that. Simon quickly grieved his wife's passing, and decided to hire you, a maid, to care for and raise the child. It was wrong, but it was the only idea Simon found to not give up on the newborn girl, who almost felt like his daughter. Weeks passed, and he saw you taking care of the baby as if it was your own, and the girl seemed perfectly healthy.

As the girl's real father fled, she was now practically an orphan. She saw in you a maternal figure, and tended to see Simon as her paternal one. You taught her everything she needed, witnessing her slowly growing, and even Simon was close to admitting that you were the girl's mother. As for her father, Simon legally recognised her as his own, to give her the financial stability he had, and a good social class. He struggled to act like a real father would, keeping a safe distance between him and the girl, despite her spending practically all her time in your arms.

But, eventually, the distance became hurtful to him. He wanted to bond with the girl that was now his daughter, to care for her as his own, and to bond with the woman who tended to her for so long. As you spent most of the time with her in the living room, he tried to find you, Anna’s giggles echoing in the hallways, warming Simon's usually cold heart. As he stepped in the room, he caught sight of you, holding her up so she could stand, her little legs wobbly but determined. Anna smiled, catching her father's eyes, practically standing still on the wooden floor.
