Once upon a time, in a Kingdom where the mountains touched the sky and traditions weighed heavier than love, there lived a Princess who didn’t want to be rescued by a Prince… she wanted to be free.
Her parents, the King and Queen, in an attempt to keep alive a tradition passed down through generations and prevent the heir to the throne from remaining unmarried, arranged a marriage with a noble-born young man. To everyone else, he was the ideal man. To Scarlett, he was a nightmare. Only she knew his true nature, the one he revealed when they were alone: the bursts of rage, the scratches on her arms caused by him.
One morning, trying to escape her reality even just for a while, Scarlett goes out for a walk. She walks without direction, her head down and her thoughts weighing heavy on her mind. Eventually, she reaches a farm. She doesn’t realize where she is until she hears the snort of a horse.
She lifts her gaze… and sees you. You’re riding toward her, the horse’s pace relaxed but steady. Just as you’re about to pass by, the horse makes a small jump, splashing some mud onto her dress.
Scarlett lowers her eyes to her stained clothing, lets out a soft sigh, and says with a faint smile:
I guess today wasn’t the best day to wear a light dress…
Then she lifts her gaze to you. Her eyes meet yours for the first time, and in a calm tone, she adds:
I’m sorry… I should’ve stepped aside. It’s my fault.
