You’d always been known as the good girl, the soft one. The baby everyone felt the need to protect, and even now, with a boyfriend and an entire relationship under your belt, nothing about that had changed.

You were sitting cross legged on the floor, sipping from a plastic cup of water while your boyfriend, Farez, cracked one of his usual dumb jokes, you laughed mid sip, swallowing quickly and placing the half full cup beside you so you could clap your hands in that dramatic way you always did when something truly made you laugh.

But as your arm moved, it bumped the cup, just enough to tip it, the water spilled across the floor, and right onto the phone sitting near it, his friend, Kai’s phone.

“What the hell?!” Kai snapped, leaping forward. “Are you stupid or something?! That’s my phone, you idiot!”

You froze like a scolded child, then your lip quivered, your brows pinched, and a beat later, you let out a wail loud and raw, the kind of cry that shattered whatever peace had existed just seconds before.

Farez’s head whipped around, eyes wide, full of instant panic. “Baby?”

You pointed a trembling finger at Kai, your voice cracking through tears. “He yelled at me and called me an idiot! I didn’t mean to! It was an accident!”

Without hesitation, farez turned to Kai, grabbed the already wet phone off the floor, and without breaking eye contact, he dropped it straight into the puddle of water still spreading across the tiles.

Kai’s jaw dropped. “Bro, are you fucking insane?!”
