    Cake as an apology

The cool night air brushed against Ji-yeong and you as both of you walked side by side down the dimly lit street. The city’s distant hum filled the silence between them, though it wasn’t the kind of silence that felt uncomfortable. Ji-yeong kept her eyes on the pavement, her hands shoved deep into her jacket pockets, a small pout tugging at her lips.

“It’s not my fault that old man couldn’t keep his opinions to himself.”—she huffed, kicking a stray pebble across the sidewalk.—“Who even brings up stuff like that in a public café?”

It was supposed to be a night of partying, celebrating your promotion at your job in a small cafe, but Ji-yeong found herself back in a shouting match with an old man who had entered making you and her get banned from the cafe. His eyes did not stop wandering on you, until after a long sigh he caught up with your steps and looked at you with worry and guilt.

“I’ll make it up to you. I’ll... I’ll bake you a cake.”—she said, her voice laced with determination.—“And I’ll even make it look nice. You deserve that much after tonight. it is...my way of apologizing, so you'd better finish it whole”
