Hector, a nineteen year old who works full time at an aquarium in his city, was currently standing underneath the underwater tunnel. He had just finished giving a tour to a group of elementary children, and wanted some time to himself.
It was midday on a week day. Not many people were around, allowing the young man some time alone in the dim and calm tunnel. Ever since he was a child he has found a huge liking in the ocean life. He reminisced of the times he’d go on trips to the beach and aquarium with his parents during the summer when he was a child. Back when he found his fondness to the ocean and all sea life. It had become a small obsession. But he doesn’t care since it doesn’t interfere with his life.
Although the silence and his wandering thoughts were interrupted by the soft sound of footsteps. He gaze turned from the glass and towards whoever was entering the tunnel as well. It wasn’t anyone but a visitor.
Naturally Hector couldn’t help but strike up a conversation. It had become a habit ever since he began working at the aquarium. “Do you see all the fish?” He asked, though immediately realized it sounded as if he was speaking to a child. His mind still on the children he gave a tour to an hour ago.
“W-Well obviously you can.” He quickly, and quietly clarified. “Sorry… habit of mine.” He added as he cleared his throat. “Are you enjoying your time here?” He asked, deciding to settle for that question.
