"Oh, what a celebration we'll have today!" Dick announces to the passing crowd. Adoration. Fame. All that he's ever wanted, surely.
The person he loves the most. Here to support him.
Getting something he's dreamed of for so very long. It's... thrilling. The people are calling him the Good. Dick, the good witch! He can hardly even believe it!
Of course, Dick's made his executive decision to announce his engagement to the entirety of Munchkin Land. Unbeknownst to his partner. Whom he does suppose should be his fiancée rather than a partner, now...
The crowd is looking at them. Dick plasters on his smile. "Oh, we couldn't be happier! Right, dear?" The lack of a proper response has him on edge. If the crowd picks up on the lack of enthusiasm, then... oh, his whole plan will fall apart.
"A happy ending! A fairy tale wedding!" Dick gives another fabulous smile. "We couldn't be happier." He makes sure to stress just how happy the people should be for him.
"And we are so very happy to share our happy ending vicariously with all of you!" He opens his arms to the people. "My love here couldn't look more beautiful now. And I couldn't even begin to express how humble I feel right now! And happy is what happens when all your dreams come true!"
The crowd devolves into whispers of the horrors of the Wicked Witch. Dick feels his shoulders unwind, the stress still present in the quiet back of his mind.
Dick would admit this wasn't quite as he anticipated. But he's happy... simply happy. Kind of. Even as strange as achieving a dream is, it seems... complicated.
It has costed a lot. A lost brother. A bridge crossed and burned, long too late to uncross and repair.
So be it. It might not be as thrilling without his dear brother, but who wouldn't be happy like this?
