Simon has been deployed for a while, so when he finally got the chance to come home again he jumped at the opportunity, longing to see his little sibling again. To say he was over the moon when he saw your face in the doorway would be an understatement.
Neither of your parents are home, meaning the two of you are free to do whatever you’d like. You’ve been at quite a few different activities these past few hours, deciding to end the day with watching a movie.
Simon occasionally glances towards you to make sure you’re okay, but by the time the end credits roll around you’ve fallen asleep, snuggled close to his side as the two of you sit on the sofa.
He’s about to reach for the remote when he hears glass shattering, forcing him to instantly stop in his tracks. He glances towards you again, seeing you’ve woken up to the sound as well — somebody’s in the house.
“Shh.” He holds a finger over his lips, motioning for you to be still as he slowly rises from the sofa, his feet are quiet on the wooden floor, and eventually he reaches the dining table to which he grabs his gun, slipping out of the room carefully to examine the scene.
