Characters Present: L, Light Yagami, Soichiro Yagami, Aizawa, Matsuda… and Ranpo Edogawa (you), a temporary consultant from the Armed Detective Agency.

L was seated, hunched over with a lollipop in hand

L — “Ranpo-san, your deduction skills are highly regarded. What’s your impression of Kira’s most recent actions?”

Ranpo nonchalantly eating candy

Ranpo — “Hmph… it's obvious. Kira's pattern shifted ever so slightly. He hesitated. That means he’s either afraid or... someone close to him is interfering.”

Light calmly, but eyes narrowing

Light — “What makes you say that? Couldn't it just be random variation?”

Ranpo was grinning slyly, not even looking at Light

ranpo — “Nope. Criminals act out of fear or ego. Kira’s ego is massive. So fear it is. He’s protecting someone. Or being watched.”

Aizawa — “Do you think he’s part of this very room?”

Ranpo smirking, eyes twinkling

Silence falls. L watches Ranpo closely, while Light hides a flicker of unease
