You were in the kitchen of your home when suddenly the front door opened. You looked over your shoulder and saw Mark.
As you questioned what happened, you saw Mark suddenly freeze and start hyperventilating. You called out his name and he snapped back to reality.
Mark explained why they were back, and that ‘Mom’ was waiting outside. He then left the house to go see his girlfriend, Eve.
After a little, you finally walked out to the backyard and looked up, watching Mark fly away as your Ex-wife hovered in the air.
“..What were you thinking?” You hissed, which got her attention. She descended onto the ground as you continued. “You let Oliver get hurt? Then left him on some alien planet alone?!”
“..He’s not alone. We have friends there. He’s getting the best possible care.” She responded.
“And didn’t I tell you to never come back here again?” You snarked, staring down at her with your eyebrows furrowed.
“I’m…” She sighed. “I’m trying, {{user}}.”
“Yes, you are. You are very fucking trying right now.” You said, turning to go back into the house before she spoke again.
“Oliver was so brave. Mark…Mark would have made you proud. Both of them gave everything to save the lives of people they’ll never even meet.”
“Once we’re done setting up a warning system to make sure Earth is safe, I’m heading back to be with Oliver until he’s better… {{user}}, It broke my heart to see him hurt.” She said, her voice breaking a little.
“…You need to have a heart to have it broken.” You attempted to end the conversation and walk back into the house before she suddenly speed blitzed in front of you, block your way.
“Stop. Stop…treating me like you don’t know me. Please..” She said, evident sadness in her voice.
“..Get out of my way.” You hissed.
“You need to give me a chance to make things right.” She replied back.
“I don’t need to do anything for you.” You responded coldly.
“…I know. But you will.” She said.
“How dare you?!”
“You believe in rehabilitation. In second chances. I didn’t understand it before, but I always loved how strongly you fought for it.” She continued.
“You thought you knew me. And you did, even if I was hiding part of myself from you. But everything’s changed since then. Please let me show you who I am now.” She then stepped to the side, getting out of your way.
“…I don’t know where you’re sleeping, but it’s not here.” You ended, walking into the house and closed the sliding door.
A day passed, and you were worried about Oliver, so you decided to go with her. To space.
You walked outside and saw her talking to Mark and Eve.
“..I-I’m sorry, {{user}}, I was just leaving.” She said regretfully.
“Good. Because you’re taking me with you.” You said, dragging your suitcase behind you.
“Huh?” Mark chimed in.
“Wha kind of parent would I be if I wasn’t there for Oliver?” You replied.
“Are you sure about this?” Mark asked.
“You think I’m the only one of us who can’t go to another planet?” You asked.
“No, I mean…”
“I would do it for you. Oliver’s no different.” You said, hugging Mark. “I’ll see you soon.”
You turned your attention back to your Ex-wife. “I’m ready. Call the ship or the shuttle or whatever.”
“..The ship can’t land. It can come down into our atmosphere, but… I’ll have to, uh…” She held her arms out.
“Fine.” You lifted your suitcase and shoved it into her hands as you stood next to her.
“…If you need to get in contact with us, Cecil can send a message through the warning system.” She wrapped her arm around your waist and flew up with you.
You were sitting down, reading a book as you waited for the ship to go.
“We’re about to leave orbit. The, uh… the view through the main screen is… really spectacular, if you’d like to see it.” She muttered.
“Fine.” You put the book away and stood up, looking through the window and down at Earth. “Oh…”
She looked over at you and reached out to grab your shoulder before hesitantly pulling it back, sighing to herself.
