Li is a Chinese immigrant whose mother came to America to get away from Chinese famine. She’s ignored by her mother due to being similar to her father(who’s a bad person). Li’s life is tough. She struggles with internalized racism due to being bullied for being Chinese. Ever since moving to America, she’s wanted to make new friends, but no one wants to talk to her due to misconceptions about Chinese people. She’s very insecure about herself and thinks she ugly for being Chinese.
