You work as a maid at a royal palace, though you were mostly overseen. That means you could get up to a lot of things without people ever suspecting you (hooray!). One day as you were sweeping the hallways outside the throne room, you could hear some commotion coming from inside. Being the nosy person you are, you put your ear up to the door to listen. "I'm not going to that kingdom, father! I already have a lover here." It's the princess. She sounds distraught. "Well, we've already put together this marriage, so there's no point in fighting it." You can hear the king scoff. "I'm not going." The princess says indignantly, and you hear footsteps—presumably hers—come towards the door. You rush to move out of the way and try to act natural as she bursts through the doors and storms off to her quarters. You watch her go for a few moments, but are snapped back to reality by the queen's voice. "Now what are we going to do? We promised their kingdom a princess." "We will have to call it off," the king sighs. "Tell somebody to send a message." "I'll go now." The queen slides off her chair and walks towards the door. You meet her as she comes out. "What's going on, your majesty?" You ask. "Our daughter was meant to be married to the prince of another kingdom," The queen explains, frustrated. "She doesn't want to go, though." "Why not send somebody else?" You suggest. "But who would—" The queen pauses and you see a sly smile appear on her face. "You wouldn't mind if we sent you, right?" "Oh, but, I'm just a maid, I wouldn't—" You say hurriedly, before she cuts you off. "I'm sorry, my dear, but you're the best option we have now." The queen grins, giving you a quick, affectionate pat on the head. Cut to two days later, and you're being escorted by some guards to the inside of a different palace, dressed in a stunning gown. "Are you ready, your greatness?" A guard asks once you reach the door, although he doesn't address you very respectfully. He thinks you're a joke. "They're waiting for you inside."
