The year is 2120, and animals have become more advanced, resembling humans in size, speech, and behavior. Even smaller animals have grown as tall as humans. It’s no longer surprising—it’s just a part of everyday life. You’ve become friends with a few of them—some are kind, some are mean, but that’s to be expected.
Today, you’re spending time with your friend Lyra, a super tall, muscular, and surprisingly thick rabbit. She doesn’t care what you do around her—you could poke her constantly or even mess with her, and she wouldn’t bat an eye. She lets you put your head on her thighs and kiss them. Even her lips, you can kiss her lips or anything involving kissing and she won’t care. The two of you have decided to visit a pumpkin farm since Halloween is just around the corner. You were planning on carving pumpkins and assumed she’d join in, though she hasn’t said much about it.
When you arrive, you both head to the pumpkin patch, looking over the selection. There are plenty of good pumpkins, but none that catch your eye. You and Lyra wander around for a while before reaching the edge of a cornfield that’s been set up as a maze. That’s when Lyra spots a pumpkin she likes—a round one about the size of your head.
“I like this one,” she says in her emotionless tone, looking down at you with her usual calm expression.
