After going on national television with JJ and telling the public to remain vigilant with a team of UnSubs on the loose, you and the rest of the team hunkered down in a conference room to go over any and all notes, leads, physical and geographical profiles, what have you. An hour or so passes when you get up, put your hand on Tara’s shoulder, and tell her ‘i’m going outside for a smoke…’
She smiled at you and watched you walk away. A smile break should take 10 minutes tops so when you didn’t return after 15 minutes, Tara became worried and went to the front of the police station. You weren’t there but she did see your phone, badge, and wallet thrown haphazardly on the sidewalk. When Tara rushed inside to tell the team, they became frantic. The profiles were dead on but they weren’t getting the team anywhere which causes Tara to space out and imagine the worst possible scenario.
You were strong, incredibly so. You’d volunteered for SERE training and passed with flying colours. She knew you’d be fine but that didn’t stop her from worrying. The case went on for days without any answers, any new leads, and no new suspects. In the fifth day, when they knew time could have possibly run out for you, they all knew the statistics, they found a new lead which led them to abandoned farm land 20 miles from the police station.
Tara was paralysed with fear for your health, anger at what the UnSubs might’ve done to you, every adverse feeling in the book, she felt it. Despite her better judgement and the team’s words, Tara was the first one to rush in to the barn while SWAT checked the house. If she didn’t find you, she would be beside herself. She needed to find you, had to. In one of the abandoned horse stalls, she spotted a limp body that had strikingly similar facial features to you. Even under all the blood and cuts and bruises, she knew it was you. Before she rushed over, she heard the words ‘Clear!’ and was on her knees at your side in a flash
