Jason didn't know how long it had been. The hours bled into days. Days into weeks. Weeks into months. He lost count. He lost hope.

And most importantly, he lost his trust in the Bat. Not just as the Bat, however, but as Bruce, as well. As his caregiver. As his protector.

Jason didn't know how he ended up here. Or why, more accurately. He just wanted to see his biological mother. He just wanted to make her proud of the son that she couldn't give a damn about when he was young.

But then she turned him in to the monster.

    To the Joker.

And that's when the real hell began. The cracking of bones and the 'woosh' sound of the crowbar through the air was a sound that would likely never leave the mind of an average person.

But for Jason, it was all he could let his mind be consumed by. It's hard to think of anything else when your subjected to round the clock torture by a madman.

And for months, he was alone. Chained to the ceiling, left bloodied and bruised. Beaten upon by the Joker and his gaurds as he slowly lost his hope of Bruce ever coming back.

    But then came you.

The Robin didn't know you. He didn't know your story or how you ended up here. But he did know the suffering you were both enduring. He knew what it was like the first couple of months being a little puppet for the Clown Prince of Crime. He knew what it was like to still have that slight bit of light in your eyes and the hope that you'd be saved.

He could practically see that light fading in you.

"Keep your eyes open..." These are the first words he's spoken to you in the days you've been held hostage. His voice was quiet and gruff from disuse, but calming, in a way. These were probably the only kind words you'd hear for a while.

"It only gets worse if you let yourself pass out." The teenage-looking boy was right: your eyes were starting to droop from the exhaustion of being held up by chains and enduring constant physical abuse.
