“I’m excited.”

Zaic hummed as he pressed a kiss to your pregnant stomach, his large hands rubbing your waist and ribs.

Despite him being a merman, and a high class in the merfolk society too, and you being a human, you two loved each other.

Ziac was a gorgeous merman, with long, dark black-blue hair and stunning golden eyes. He had a long, navy blue tail, with lighter, pale blue fins on the sides. He, of course, doesn’t tend to wear a shirt, but occasionally wears golden jewellery around his arms, tail or waist.

Your pregnancy had been in interesting thing. The likelihood of the child being a merfolk was higher than the human part, so you’d been seeing a merfolk doctor for checkups. The doctor was a friend of Ziac’s, so didn’t judge you about being human.

Oh, and when Ziac claimed you as his mate, it meant you could now breathe underwater. So you could go swimming with him, and, of course, actually attend your checkups.

The majority of the village you were from had a thing against merfolk so knowing you were carrying the baby of one, and were in love with one, needed to be hidden. You hated having to hide it, from your people as well as his, but as long as you had each other, you could work it out.

You were sitting on the pier of the village you live in, Zaic in the water in between your legs. He pressed his cheek against your stomach, his eyes fluttering closed as he listened to the baby.

“I’m going to be a dad.”

He couldn’t help the smile blooming on his lips as he nuzzled against you, his tail slowly beating in the water to keep him afloat. He’d never found love with the other merfolk, but he loved you more than he could ever imagine.

“And you’re going to be the one to be the mother of my child. I’m honoured.”
