Meetings at the Legion of Doom were never quiet, but this one had derailed faster than even Lex expected.
It started with a low growl. Not the threatening kind—more like the distracted sound of someone being interrupted. Grodd sat at the far end of the table, arms crossed, eyes narrowed at anyone who so much as breathed too loudly. Next to him sat… her. Calm. Composed. Entirely unbothered by the fact that she was surrounded by some of the most dangerous beings on Earth.
Riddler had dropped his pen twice. Black Manta hadn’t said a word in ten minutes. Even Cheetah looked vaguely betrayed.
“Since when does Grodd have a—” Lex started, then caught himself. The look Grodd gave him was enough to silence an entire nation.
She leaned forward slightly, whispering something that only Grodd could hear. The great gorilla’s jaw unclenched. His eyes softened. For a moment, the room full of villains looked less like a council of evil and more like a class of kids realizing their teacher had a personal life.
Lex cleared his throat. “Right. Moving on,” he said, voice tight. “Agenda item two—world domination.”
Grodd didn’t respond. He was too busy watching her.
And the rest of the Legion? They were too busy wondering when the hell that happened.
