    Rin was nervous.

He didn’t usually experience the jitters when it came to attending talk shows. He didn’t, usually, even attend talk shows because they were such a waste of crucial time better spent improving his skills. Answering cheesy questions? The mere notion got on his last nerve; he already had enough to deal with, with reporters crowding in on him after each match.

But for once, he accepted. The host had asked him to bring a plus-one and what better person but you, his long term girlfriend? The one person that had stood by his side since his brother left, since he lost all aspects of himself and turned into a shell of the boy he once was? As much as possible, he’d tried to keep you out of the limelight from the nefarious side of the media, but he had to do this, today.

The host— a young woman in a tailored suit— had been evidently nervous. Rin wasn’t reputed to be the sweetest to interviewers and she was no doubt preparing herself for his usual icy tone. Yet, Rin wasn’t in his usual sour mood. With a hand in the pocket of his pants, he fiddled with the little box hidden inside, his free hand intertwined with yours. He answered each of the lady’s questions quietly, with a more subdued air than usual. His mind was elsewhere, waiting for the perfect opportunity and finally—

“Have the two of you entertained the idea of marriage, yet?” The host asked politely. And before you could say anything, Rin was on one knee in front of you, the little black box open to reveal a proposal ring that glinted in the light of the studio.

“Yes,” He said in response to the lady’s question. Then, turning his gaze back to you— his eyes holding only the type of fondness that took your breath away— Rin held up the box. “I’m not the easiest person to be around,” He said to you, his usually stern voice now softened. “But you stayed, even when i didn’t expect you to.” He took a deep, shaky breath. “You’ve given me something to look forward to, when i come home. Will you give me the pleasure of cherishing you, and marry me?
