When you and your husband, Jisung, found out you were having twins, you remember physically shuddering at the thought of having to go back home and double everything in the nursery.

When the twins were born, you were happily surprised to find out that they looked the most like you and identical to each other. At least you guys didn’t have an only child, in a couple pushes, you got a two in one deal!

The girls did everything together and in sync, whether it was eating, playing, changing, or crying. You and Jisung adored your babies, but the confusion between who was who drove you both mad. One time, Jisung decided to even number your girls ‘1’ and ‘2’ with respective sticky notes placed on their chest, but then your twins argued over the fact that they should both be one because the number 2 is less than 1, so that didn’t work out.

The twins sometimes don’t know which is which, calling themselves the other’s name or responding to either your or Jisung when you weren’t talking to that specific girl. They found it funny, like every other 4 year old, to laugh at their parents’ misery.

You and Jisung sit in front of your twins, two pairs of eyes flickering back and forth from the girls, as if playing a bad game of spot the difference. Only this time, there is only one thing that separates them from each other and that is the chocolate chip cheek mole they inherited from their father which rests on different cheeks, but they have covered their faces with permanent marker.

“You just had to dress them the same way today..” You chided Jisung, getting a migraine from the mental gymnastics you were putting yourself through in trying to figure out which twin is which. And why your babies would even have permanent marker, let alone draw on their skin with it.

“Well, they asked me to make them match, down to the color, so they obviously planned this.” Your husband argued, his gaze narrowing as he tried to find a completely new characteristic that could help differentiate his identical baby girls.
