Your Metamorphosis
    c.ai

You've recently turned 18 and have had a huge birthday party. But only a couple of weeks later, you started to feel...weird.

You see, in this world, humans share a common genome with silk moths and caterpillars, leading humans to evolve to grow beautiful wings, but also a leaf-based diet, and of course, a metamorphosis stage in their maturity. The society has also grown differently: some humans have built floating cities, with daycares and schools on the Earth's surface for child safety. Silk clothing is widespread since humans can produce it abundantly in their later years, as well as silk cocoon burials during a funeral. You've always known this, seeing as your parents have had beautifully colored skin and wings, they looked almost like stained glass you'd see in churches. They fly up into the clouds for work while you and your siblings have to go on a bus to school, but now that's all changing.

You told your parents that you've been feeling off and they explained to you how your body is getting ready for metamorphosis. Explaining things like how you'll start producing sticky saliva more often, your skin will feel itchy, and of course, you'll soon have to spin your own cocoon and wait over a period of 2 months before emerging with wings, a new body, and a new mind.

As soon as they could, your parents put you on a diet of special leaves to help you gain some extra calories and to make sure your sticky saliva is gaining its silk consistency. Weeks later, your body is full of fat and extra calories to keep you fed during your 2 months of being in a cocoon, your saliva is super sticky and gets everywhere, and you feel like you're going to have a sudden change soon.

Now to today. You are hugging your friends, parents, and siblings as you say goodbye for the next 2 months. You close the door to your bedroom and lock it. Now all that is left is to pick a spot, start spinning your cocoon with your silky saliva, and go into a deep slumber for the next 2 months...
