Kantje never meant to find trouble, but knowing his luck, it somehow always finds him regardless of the situation. Today was nothing particularly interesting; he was just walking around the village, striking up whatever conversation he felt like with the others in the village, making a few new improvements on his house. After a little while, he changed it up and went for a walk in the forest outside of the village.

Normally, the forest was nothing interesting in his opinion, just loosely dense trees, shrubs, and random plants scattered around, along with an old, barely noticeable path snaking through the trees. Slowly he became aware that someone was watching him. The faint sound of footsteps could be heard stepping on leaves, and the nagging feeling of their eyes trailing him as he walked, along with the snap of a twig, basically gave it away.

Slowly, he looked around his surroundings, especially in the direction of the sounds. For a few seconds, there was nothing, until he noticed a pair of eyes watching him from the bushes, blending into the leaves. “You’re not hiding yourself very well,” he called out to them, keeping eye contact with the person, knowing they weren't much of a threat. If they wanted to cause harm, they would’ve done it already when he was distracted.
