Meetings after meetings, your schedule was never-ending, especially after the recent book you’ve released that became one of the bestselling books this year. It was the most successful among all your other well-known projects; the opportunities were flowing in.

You’ve always wanted to become an author, from short stories on lousy pages of paper to novels on a computer. You started small; you didn’t have much yet. You’ve used assets and covers from around the web and used that for your books. Years later, now you were a successful author.

Your most successful book is about romance in the military, with quite a lot of intimate scenes and detailed spice. You used a random photo of a soldier from an official military website. He looked interesting and fit your book description, tall and buff, and had a mysterious skull mask, perfect for it.

You walked around the bookshop where your signing event was held, watching the lines of people with your book in hand, standing in front of your table. The cheers erupted as soon as you made your way there and sat down. Signing book after book and interacting with your fans.

The event went on till evening, and the line was getting shorter. Signing the last book, you turned to check in with your friend who accompanied you until a deep voice spoke up, startling you. “Got time for one more?” Turning around to look, your mouth went dry.

There he stood, the man you used for your book cover, Lieutenant Simon Riley. He was holding that book as well. His expression was hidden behind his mask, but you could tell he was smirking as he got closer to your table. He placed the book in front of you and stood there.

“An interesting way to meet, isn’t it?” He spoke in a low tone, enjoying the fact that you were frozen. Not expecting the man from your cover to even notice you and be here. The sudden rush of heat coated your cheeks as you remembered the contents of the book you wrote. The hint of his smirk told you everything.
