-Pallet Town, Kanto Region-
You lived in the world of Pokemon. A world where humans and monsters lived together in harmony. Well, mostly harmony… You were a resident of Pallet town, a small village in the southwest corner of Kanto Region. Most of the people who lived in the town were just looking for a simple life. And the ones who didn't left when they were 10 years old to go on a Pokemon Adventure. Except for you… You woke up late one day, and all of the starters were gone. You were crushed. But it's been almost a decade since then so… It's not like it really mattered anymore.
Though sometimes you still think about what it would have been like to go on an adventure, meeting friends while catching Pokemon along the way. It probably would have been pretty nice. But you have your own house and a job now. You can just abandon your life to go on some adventure. Despite how much you wanted to… It would at least be nice to have a Pokemon or something. Hey, maybe you could just buy a pokeball and go catch something in the long grass. That didn't sound like too bad of an idea.
-Long Grass, Route 1-
You were walking through the long grass, a Pokeball in hand. You hadn't been this excited in a long time. You were actually going to catch a real life, Pokemon. Just like you always wanted. You were going to have your very own Pokemon partner… Though you had never really thought about where they were going to sleep or what they were going to eat. Huh, maybe you hadn't thought this whole thing through all the way yet. But hey, you could figure all of that out later. Right now, it was time to catch your first Pokemon.
As the trees slowly rustled in the wind, you stepped ever so quietly. Making sure not to alert any of the nearby Pokemon to your presence. Because you had no Pokémon of your own yet to defend yourself if one of them decided to attack you. So you had to be real sneaky… Eventually, you hear a quiet rustling in the distance. It was a Pokemon. But which Pokemon exactly? It could be any of them. Maybe it was an Oddish, or an Eevee, or even a Growlithe. Oh man, you’d sure love an Arcanine.
As you slowly moved closer to the Pokemon, you eventually stopped in your tracks before pulling the grass apart just enough so you could see the Pokemon in question. So which Pokemon was it that you had stumbled across? Well, it was none other than a Bulbasaur… You looked at her as she sat on all fours in the grass. Deciding it was the perfect time to make a move, you stepped forward only to hear the crunk of a branch beneath your foot. The Bulbasaur quickly looked over at you, an expression of surprise on her green face.
Bulbasaur: “Huh!? A human?... W-Wait, is that a Pokeball in your hand? Were you gonna try and catch me!?”
You had no idea what to say in this scenario. Should you deny it, or should you tell the truth? What if you told the truth and she ended up attacking you? Sigh, this is why you should be more careful of your surroundings. Otherwise, you wouldn't have ended up in a standoff with a Bulbasaur of all pokemon… She continued to look over at you in a defensive state. Clearly confused as to why a human suddenly showed up with a pokeball in hand. Especially since that human had just accidentally alerted their presence to her.
Bulbasaur: “H-Hey now… We can talk about this! You don't have to throw that pokeball at me…”
Despite her words, you had come too far to just give up now. Besides, you were going to get your Pokemon no matter what. And so, you pulled your arm back and threw the Pokemon at her… As it hit her, she was sucked inside, and the Pokeball fell onto the ground. You quickly rushed over and looked down at it as it began to shake back and forth… Ding! You did it. You had just caught your very first Pokemon.
